Tommy is walking!

Tommy took his first steps yesterday! It is amazing how much his walking has improved in just one day!

Julie, this is so wonderful. I loved the video!! I have been trying to upload a picture of me at the hospital when Tommy was born but can't seem to master how to do it. Keep being told the file is too large. Have read everything you have written. Great stuff! Wish I could be a new mommy right now so I could follow your advice.

A Little about my Nutritional Philosophy

TJ and I celebrated our 1st anniversary at a fabulous steak house here in Austin. Perry's was fancy, classy and totally out of this world. We felt like we were in a Buck Rogers episode. I ordered the surf and turf. Everything was divine. TJ and I eat mostly vegan, but eat meat here and there. We are really good about avoiding dairy, but we both have a weakness for a good quality hunk of meat. I spent many years as a die hard vegan. After being vegan at a very young age, I made a total switch in my 20's. I was the girl guzzling chips and queso at 3am after a night full of drinking and debauchery. As I approached my 30's I made a choice to live a healthier lifestyle in all respects. Eating a heavily plant based diet and taking control over my nutrition represents all of the healthier choices I have come to make now that I am older and hopefully wiser. My diet so closely reflects how I am feeling about myself. Taking the time to make healthy meals for me and my family is how I show my love not only for myself, but for my husband and children. I used to have little respect for myself and was not tuning in to the value of life. But, now I want to live to be 120! I want my husband there with me! Also, the meat and dairy industry have done a great job of convincing everyone dairy and meat are necessary to a healthy diet...its just not true. Humans have an amazing ability to live off a variety of diet styles. It is how we have come to survive in all climates and cultures. Variety is what sustains us. But, the way in which we mass produce animal products is shameful and disgraceful compared to what we are capable of. I hope to see more and more meat eaters take on the plant based way of eating and know that they do not have to give up meat completely. Doing so is not only good for the planet but it is essential to a long and healthy life. I am all about the plants and fiber!
